**Sketch Assignment #1: - Minor Assignment (10 pts)
Research songs you like and write the lyrics that you would like to make your project on - put these in the sketches section of your sketchbook. Find at least 3 - make sure they are school appropriate.
**Sketch Assignment #2: - Minor Assignment (10 pts)
Pick two of your favorite lyrics from Assignment #1 and sketch (in sketches section) the image those lyrics put in your head. Find examples of all of the parts that fit your idea and save them to your computer.
**Music Painting - Major Assignment (100 pts)
Paper: 11x14 - Cardboard
Media: Acrylic
Follow the first two sketch assignments and then conference with your teacher. Once they've okayed the project, begin painting.
Take pictures as you go along and create a weebly page of the finished work.
Teacher's Process:
First: I find a few songs I like. I listen to them and find lyrics and phrases that make me think of pictures. I write down the song, the artist, and the exact lyrics that I like in my sketch book.
Second: I decide which of those I like best. I decided to go with one of the song lyrics: "I had a dream I, stood beneath an orange sky" Orange Sky by Alexi Murdoch. I have a picture in my head of a girl standing beneath a stormy orange sky - only from a worm's-eye-view. I draw out my ideas in my sketchbook and then I find images that fit all of those elements - I won't find one exactly like I plan to paint because then I would just be copying it, these are my inspiration.
Third: I do the same thing for one more of the songs I like.
Fourth: Conference with teacher
Fifth: Begin painting
