Cardboard Chimera Sculpture
Students will sketch and research what they would like to create for their large scale chimera cardboard sculpture in groups of 2 or by themselves. Animals are chosen on a first-come first-served basis - no repeats. Students will then create a large version of their chimera out of cardboard.
Chimera - an imaginary monster compounded of incongruous parts
•In sketch section of sketchbook (Both partners need to have different sketches in their sketchbooks - pick the best one)
o List animals
o Sketch different animals from the list in different combinations
o Practice drawing chimeras from all views (top, side, back, front, under, close up)
• Get animal okay'ed by teacher
•Use cardboard to create chimeras
o Should be at least 3"x2"x2"
o Use cardboard to show details
o Paint with solid color
• Create Weebly Portfolio page (Each partner needs own, original photos and a personal artist statement)
